tiregaugeWith the price of gas constantly going up and down, it’s important not to have the air in our vehicle’s tires going up and down as well, because that can cost each of us more dollars and cents.  I read an article about how to improve our miles per gallon (MPG) by around 3%, using as much as 7 cents less per gallon of gas.  What’s needed is for us to have our tires inflated to the recommended pressure.

Here are a few other positives for keeping your tires inflated to that recommended pressure:

1) Your car handles better.  The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says underinflated tires contribute to approximately 660 deaths a year.

2) The correct pressure extends the life of your tires by up to 15%.

3) About 3.3% less CO2 is emitted when your tires are not underinflated.

Also, when you live in an area like Tulsa, where you actually have winter driving, it is important to understand that for every 10 degrees F that the temperature drops, the pressure in your tires is reduced by a couple pounds per square inch (PSI).

I found a digital tire gauge at a pretty reasonable cost on Amazon.  I got myself one and it works great!

The Tulsa area has many auto parts stores that will help you with your winter driving needs.
